Ryan Urie, Full Stack Web Developer

Welcome, I'm a web developer who mostly works in Ruby on Rails, or MeteorJS frameworks. This responsive site was built using pure code; no templates, CMS, or pre-built frameworks like Wordpress, Bootstrap, etc. Happily forever in the state of: enthusiastically wanting to learn all I can, while never becoming a self proclaimed 'master of language (x)'. Thanks for stopping by.

About Me

Let the shameless self promotion begin...

I'm a Full Stack Web Developer with a passion for solving complex problems, expanding my knowledge, and building user friendly applications with a meaningful purpose. Extensive experience within Product Management, Design, Programming, Testing, Development, and Deployment. Experienced with creating, managing, maintaining, and improving complex applications. Although unbiased towards stacks & frameworks, lately I have found myself gravitating back to developing projects in Ruby on Rails or diving deeper into MeteorJS. I enjoy applying my knowledge to reduce complex situations into intuitive solutions with greatly improved results

Employment:   In addition to doing various freelance web development jobs, I also currently work 25 hours a week doing backend work on a propriety platform built in Rails for a former employer. I love both, yet have recently started to look for a full-time job in order to further grow myself as a coder.

Personal Projects:   I'm currently developing a project tentatively called Streamwiser, which is a full featured streaming media app. Users will be able to stream any music, movies, or television shows they can imagine from nearly endless sources including free & paid services such as: Youtube, Netflix, HBOgo, Pandora, Spotify etc into their que or playlists.

Spare Time:   In my spare time I teach web development twice a week free of charge to those who want to learn, but simply can’t afford the exorbitant cost to do so. Typing that sounded like shameless braggadocio, but I can assure you I’m a “C+” teacher at best. Its fun & I would be lying if I said I didn't gain a lot from it revisiting topics I haven’t come across in some time professionally.
